Due to the limited research in the field of Arab-American and Egyptian-American psychology, this dissertation focuses on different psychosocial and cultural factors involved in addressing the needs of Arab-American and Egyptian-American children, adolescents, and families affected by parent and/or caregiver chronic illness. In this context, parent and/or caregiver chronic illness is conceptualized as a trauma in early childhood and adolescence that has implications for mental health outcomes. Research on attachment, parent and caregiver chronic illness, and Arab-American culture, values, and attitudes towards mental health is discussed. A product was created based on the research and the expertise of expert field consultants to include cultural considerations for clinicians when providing culturally humble trauma-informed care to these ethnoreligious populations.
