Kuresel boyuttaki cevre ve enerji sorunlarini cozmek icin surdurulebilir enerji teknolojileri ile ilgili calismalar giderek artmaktadir. Bu baglamda, gazlastirma teknolojileri cesitli avantajlar sunmaktadir. Gazlastirma sistemlerinin verimliligi, kullanilan yakit turu ve miktari, gazlastirici ajani, gazlastiricinin boyutsal ozellikleri (cap ve uzunluk), basinci ve sicakligi gibi cesitli faktorlere oldukca baglidir. Deneysel optimizasyon surecleri daha gercekci olmakla beraber zaman alicidir. Ayrica, yuksek sicaklik ve basinclarda calisan bir reaktor tehlikeli ve maliyetli olabilmektedir. Bu sebeple, cesitli matematiksel modelleme tekniklerini iceren surec benzesim programlari kullanilmaktadir. Ayrica, yapay zeka yaklasimlarindan biri olan yapay sinir aglari (YSA) surec modelleme teknikleri icerisinde oldukca dikkat cekicidir, ve bu yontemin diger modelleme teknikleri ile birlikte kullanildigi cok sayida calisma bulunmaktadir. Diger taraftan, gazlastirici tasarim parametrelerini ve calisma kosullarini dikkate alan reaksiyon kinetigi temelli kombine bir YSA modeli henuz gelistirilmemistir.Bu tez calismasinda, yedi farkli dolasimli akiskan yatak gazlastiricinin Aspen PLUS® surec benzesim programi kullanilarak modellenmesi ve dogrulanmasi gerceklestirilerek parametrik calismalari yapildi. Gazlastirici capi, gazlastirici uzunlugu, gazlastirici sicakligi, hava/yakit orani ve yakit turunun etkilerini incelemek icin parametrik analiz gerceklestirildi ve YSA'nin egitimi icin bir veri seti olusturuldu. Sentez gazinin bilesimi ve isil degeri, YSA modeli kullanilarak tahmin edildi. Boylelikle, hem tasarim parametrelerini hem de calisma kosullarini dikkate alan yeni bir YSA modeli ilk kez gelistirildi.Bu tez kapsaminda, boyutsal parametrelerin sentez gazinin ozellikleri uzerinde onemli bir etkisi olmasina ragmen, gazlastirici sicakliginin da onemli bir parametre oldugu saptandi. Ayrica, YSA modelinin sentez gazinin ozelliklerini (bilesim, alt isil deger ve ekserji) buyuk bir dogrulukla (R2 > 0.99 ve OMYH < %3) tahmin ettigi bulundu. Bu calisma sonucunda, yapay zeka yaklasiminin dolasimli akiskan yatakli gazlastiricilarin tasariminda ve gelistirilmesinde etkili bir sekilde kullanilabilecegi kanitlandi.

520 $a Studies on sustainable energy technologies are increasing to solve global environmental and energy problems. Gasification technologies offer several environmental and technological advantages in this context. The efficiency of gasification systems is highly dependent on several factors, such as the type and amount of fuel used, the gasification agent, gasifier dimensions (diameter and length), pressure, and temperature. Experimental optimization approaches are more realistic but also more time consuming. In addition, a reactor operating at high temperatures and pressures could be dangerous and expensive. Therefore, process simulation programs that incorporate various mathematical modeling techniques are used. On the other hand, artificial neural networks (ANN), which belong to artificial intelligence approaches, are quite remarkable among process modeling techniques, and there are many studies in which this method is used together with other modeling techniques. In addition, no combined ANN model based on reaction kinetics has yet been developed that takes into account the design parameters and operating conditions of the gasifier.In this study, seven different circulating fluidized bed gasifiers were modeled and validated using the Aspen PLUS® process simulation program, followed by parametric studies. Parametric analysis was used to examine the effects of gasifier diameter, gasifier length, gasifier temperature, air/fuel ratio, and fuel type in order to create a data set for training of ANN. This was the first time a model was developed that accounted for both design and operating variables.In this dissertation study, it was found that in addition to the dimensional parameters, which have a significant effect on syngas properties, gasifier temperature is also an important parameter. Moreover, it was found that the ANN model predicts the syngas properties (composition, lower heating value, and exergy) with high accuracy (R2 > 0.99 and MAPE < 3%). As a result of this study, it was proved that the artificial intelligence approach can be effectively used in the design and development of circulating fluidized bed gasifiers.
