Employment is an essential aspect of a person's life fulfillment, socioeconomics, lifemeaning, and connections with others. To succeed in their employment, the person has to havejob satisfaction, which encompasses many factors such as pay, job fit, leadership, trust, andunderstanding. Job satisfaction will mean something different to military veterans who are usedto operating in a work environment that emphasizes teamwork, leadership, dedication, values, and ethics. A military veteran with no civilian work experience can have a "cultural shock"when starting their first civilian employment after their military service. There is a lack ofliterature studies that have researched military veterans' civilian job satisfaction and what factorsaffect the military veteran's job satisfaction. Understanding what job satisfaction is for themilitary veteran will allow us to educate and inform others about military culture. Trust andUnderstanding are important concepts in the military workplace culture since understanding themission and trusting the leaders are important to complete the job and succeed. IntersectionalityTheory will allow us to understand the many factors that affect the job satisfaction of the militaryveteran in the civilian workplace. A qualitative phenomenological research study where militaryveterans with civilian employment are interviewed is expected to help us understand what factorsaffect job satisfaction. The military veterans' perceptions will help us understand what factorsintersect in their civilian workplace and clearly understand their perceptions when it comes totheir civilian employment. The goal is to understand what factors affect job satisfaction formilitary veterans in their civilian employment and how these factors affect their job satisfaction.
