This generic qualitative research study answered the question of how remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) operators describe their worldviews and changes to them as a result of RPA operations. In-person interviews provided the data required for analysis. Eight participants between the ages of 18 and 42 in the United States Air Force consisting of pilots and sensor operators that had been actively engaged in RPA operations within the last three years were recruited by snowball sampling to take part in one-hour guided face-to-face interviews. Data was collected through audio recordings and interviewer notes during the interviews. Much of their demographic data was redacted for privacy and security. This research follows a thematic analysis methodology because of its commitment to trustworthiness, its practicality, and its effectiveness. Data were analyzed using the software MAXQDA followed by a manual analysis resulting in two principal themes: Taking life in combat is justified as being a part of a job and RPA operators have pride in supporting and protecting coalition forces on the ground.
