Conventional two-dimensional radiographs provide accessible and high-resolution images, remaining the most popular method for paraclinical diagnosis of diseases involving the pulp and periodontium. Despite their many advantages, two-dimensional radiographs are characterized by a somewhat limited diagnostic potential. The advantages of cone-beam computed tomography as a diagnostic tool in the field of endodontics have already been described and analysed by numerous studies around the world. In the present study, we aim to investigate the application of CBCT in the field of endodontics. The results of this study are expected to shed light on the diagnostic potential of CBCT by making it easier for the clinician to choose a diagnostic tool when planning and conducting endodontic treatment. Objective: To study the possibilities of CBCT in the detection and diagnosis of anatomical variations of the endodontic space and the root canal system among the Bulgarian population. The results of our study prove the role of cone-beam computed tomography in the field of endodontics in assessing the configuration of the root canal system, the detection of anatomical variations in the endodontic space and the diagnosis of pathological conditions.

Конвенционалните двуизмерни рентгенографски изображения предоставят достъпни и с висока резолюция изображения, с което остават най-популярния метод за параклинична диагностика на заболяванията, въвличащи пулпата и периодонциума. Въпреки многобройните си предимства, двуизмерните рентгенографии се характеризират с лимитиран до известна степен диагностичен потенциал. Предимствата на конично-лъчевата томография като диагностично средство в областта на ендодонтията са вече описани и анализирани от многобройни изследвания по целия свят. В настоящото изследване си поставяме за цел да изследваме приложението на конично-лъчевата томография в областта на ендодонтията. Резултатите от това изследване очакваме да внесат яснота относно диагностичния потенциал на CBCT, като улеснят клинициста при избора на диагностично средство при планиране и провеждане на ендодонтско лечение. Цел: Да се изследват възможностите на CBCT в откриването и диагностиката на анатомични вариации на ендодонтското пространство и корено-каналната система сред българското население. Резултатите от нашето изследване доказват ролята на конично-лъчевата томография в областта на ендодонтията по отношение оценяване на конфигурацията на ККС, откриването на анатомични вариации в ендодонтското пространство и диагностиката на патологични състояния.
