The purpose of writing Men's Discipleship Using the Gospel of John and the Effect on Spiritual Well-being is to describe the effects a discipleship curriculum based on the Gospel of John has on Christian men's self-perception of spiritual well-being. The curriculum is centered on Jesus and his discipleship methods as captured in John's Gospel. Discipleship insights on working with contemporary North American men were also incorporated into the curriculum. Christian men perceived they had a higher level of spiritual well-being after experiencing the John Discipleship Curriculum. Chapter 1 develops the purpose, goals, context, and rationale for this project on men's discipleship. The ministry problem is detailed and the approach and rationale for the intervention is described. Chapter 2 provides literature and theological foundation for researching a Christian men's discipleship curriculum based on the Gospel of John. Two Christian discipleship curriculums by a contemporary discipleship organization are also reviewed. Chapter 3 sets forth the research methodology utilized in researching the effect a John discipleship curriculum has on Christian men's self-perception of spiritual well-being. Both quantitative and qualitative methodologies were used. Chapter 4 presents an analysis of the supporting data which was gathered. Quantitative and qualitative data are presented and analyzed. Chapter 5 assesses the data and points to the strategy for further research in men's discipleship and spiritual well-being. The researcher summarizes the project, and draws conclusions and implications from this doctoral study. Recommendations for future research are presented.
