Schizophrenia is a chronic problem that presents with delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thinking or speech, and poor motor behavior. Schizophrenia can lead to hospitalization and re- hospitalization, and even death. The study addressed the background and significance of utilizing psychoeducation to boost medication adherence in male individuals with schizophrenia. The study aimed to determine if psychoeducation intervention helped increase medication adherence in male patients with schizophrenia. The project focused on African American males between the ages of 25 and 65 diagnosed with schizophrenia. The study used a pre-test and post-test design, with a convenience sample of 30 individuals with schizophrenia, aged 25 and above. The intervention involved a biweekly psychoeducation session. The intervention was conducted to compare the medication compliance scale before and after the 12-week treatment(psychoeducation) period. The results of the study revealed statistically significant reductions in the MARS scores of the participants after implementation of psychoeducation intervention (t (22) = -30.729, p <.001). Therefore, psychoeducation was effective in boosting medication compliance among individuals with schizophrenia. The study contributes to the existing literature on schizophrenia management by supporting the implementation of psychoeducation to boost medication compliance among patients with schizophrenia.
