This study explored whether animated graphic symbols enhance comprehension of syntax in children with moderate-to-severe ASD. Participants were presented with ten animated element cues (sequence of three graphic symbols) and asked to perform the concept depicted. Animated element cues led to greater directive-following accuracy, and has important implications as an instructional tool for teaching receptive syntax skills.
