Assistive technology (AT) use is often essential for students who are blind/visually impaired to be successful in the classroom. It is not always implemented appropriately in the general education classroom. This project explored what strategies were being used by Teachers of the Visually Impaired in North Dakota to increase the use of AT by classroom teachers. Using a survey design with open-ended questions, qualitative data was elicited from a small sample of teachers. Findings resulted in common themes for barriers and some strategies for support AT implementation in general education classrooms. Implications of the findings and recommendations for future research are discussed.
