The purpose of the research project was to determine the impact teaching using various tones and gestures had on students with disabilities. Eight elementary students participated in the study. Two students had multiple disabilities, two students had developmental delays, one student had a developmental delay and a hearing impairment, two students had autism, and one student had an intellectual disability. Over a 10-week period, during large group and one-on-one instruction, the researcher collected and analyzed data on students' specific behaviors: eye gazes, following directions, staying on task, and responding. Results will be discussed.
