There is a lack of literature on aftercare services for human trafficking victims, as the existing literature focuses on combating human trafficking. Researchers of general human trafficking, trafficker prosecution, and methods of combating human trafficking have raised concerns about aftercare services for the victims and survivors of human trafficking. The purpose of this generic qualitative study was to explore service providers' experiences of providing services to human trafficking victims and survivors in a West South Central U.S. state. The participating service providers had worked with victims and survivors of human trafficking for a minimum of 3 years and sought to remain in their roles. The study had three overarching questions: How do service providers perceive the impact of aftercare services on victims of human trafficking? What is the impact of aftercare services on collaboration between multidisciplinary agencies? How do service providers perceive the impact of the lack of certain aftercare services on the victims of human trafficking? The study's sample consisted of 10 women and two men of diverse age, gender, ethnicity, and educational backgrounds who had experience working with human trafficking victims. During one-on-one interviews, the participants responded to seven semi-structured, open-ended questions. Four themes emerged via thematic analysis. Merton's theory of structural functionalism provided a framework for understanding how the participants perceived the efficacy of aftercare services for human trafficking victims and survivors. Despite extensive research on aftercare services for human trafficking victims and survivors, there is little research on service providers' experiences. This study's findings indicate the importance of improving and identifying aftercare service strategies for human trafficking victims and survivors.
