This study explored the impact of screen time education by the School Nurse on students' knowledge on leisure screen time use and the impact on students' choice of leisure screen time use. This study was implemented and data collected during the 2020 COVID-19 global pandemic. The participants included 15 students in fifth grade from an affluent suburban elementary school that were consistent in virtual attendance for three weeks. The purpose of the study was to examine if screen time education would have an impact on students' leisure time activity choices. The study also explored the effect of education of fifth graders' screen time awareness. Data were collected through pre- and post-surveys, mindfulness questionnaire, screen time journal, nurse-researcher journal, and a rubric. The findings indicated that screen time education by the School Nurse did have an impact on student knowledge of screen time use. However the results of the study had mixed findings of screen time education having an impact on choice of leisure activities.
