Objective: The objective of this qualitative research is to identify the perceptions of Western New York (WNY) supermarket managers and their roles in online shopping amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Design: Interview questions were adapted from previous research. Interview responses were recorded and transcribed. The researcher recruited participants for the study and conducted interviews with participants during the summer of 2020.Setting: The interview was administered individually to each manager at a location pre-determined by the researcher and participant, or over the phone.Participants: A total of four managers were interviewed separately.Phenomenon of Interest: Perceptions of supermarket managers on their roles in online shopping and trends of online shopping amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Analysis: Transcripts were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: Common themes found in the interviews were: the managers role in online shopping before the COVID-19 pandemic compared to amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and customer usage of online shopping before the COVID-19 pandemic compared to customer usage of online shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic.Conclusion: The researcher interprets the literature and the findings in this study to say that the health professional should plan future grocery store health initiatives with knowledge of the managers role and customer shopping trends.
