Research shows that social workers suffer from trauma that leads to work-related stress. Stress can originate from the demands of social work, such as the need for social workers to adapt to any situation at any time, having large workloads and demanding responsibilities that may lead to compassion fatigue and a lack of job satisfaction. The purpose of this research was to determine whether spirituality plays a role in mitigating stress and compassion fatigue, and if it increases job satisfaction among social workers. Research questions that guided the research for the study were: Is there a correlation between spirituality and stress? Is there a correlation between spirituality and job satisfaction among social workers? Is there a correlation between spirituality and compassion fatigue among social workers? Quantitative methodology was used for this study because it facilitates statistical inference and is ideal when the researcher seeks to verify whether a correlation exists to produce precise statistical findings that can be generalized to larger samples. The sample for this research included administrators from five randomly selected social work facilities, including general hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, chronic disease hospitals, and rehabilitation centers in the Southern region of the United States. The sample size of 83 participants were selected through systematic random sampling. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 25 software was used for data analysis to determine standard deviation, mean, and frequency distributions of the data obtained from the survey. Findings based on the Pearson correlation for Hypothesis 1 indicated that the relationship between spirituality and stress was not statistically significant. The finding of the Pearson correlation for Hypothesis 2 indicated that the relationship between spirituality and job satisfaction and compassion fatigue was statistically significant.
