Crossfit was first developed in 2000 with the goal of improving fitness and health. Since then, Crossfit has drawn many followers, including adolescents, adults, and older adults, some of whom have also gone on to compete professionally with other Crossfit athletes. Historically, research studies have explored body dissatisfaction and disordered eating in other competitive sports, including running, soccer, football, weightlifting, and body building. As Crossfit was a relatively new sport, there were no available research studies exploring body dissatisfaction and disordered eating among this specific population. I recruited 163 participants ranging in age from 19-63 years who participated in Crossfit and explored levels of self-esteem, body image concern, exercise dependency, and eating attitudes through a series of self-reports utilizing the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Exercise Dependency Scale-Revised, Body Image Concern Scale, and Eating Attitudes Test- 26. I discussed practical implications of these findings and future considerations for clinicians.
