Childhood obesity affects up to 4% of American children. The Let's Go 5210 program is an evidence-based diet and exercise childhood obesity prevention program implemented in schools and after school programs. The effectiveness of the program, when combined with one-on-one coaching, in preventing and reversing childhood obesity in the home setting is not known. The clinical scholarly project aimed to examine the effects of implementing the Let's Go 5210 program in preventing/ reversing childhood obesity. The Let's Go 5210 curriculum was delivered in an outpatient psychiatric mental health wellness center with weekly onsite or virtual one-on-one coaching on physical activity and health behavior change. A total of 42 preteens and adolescents aged between 12 and 18 years with a body mass index (BMI) above the 95th percentile participated in the project. The participants' BMI and weight were measured before and after six weeks of participating in the program. The findings indicated a significant decline in weight (t (41) = 18.284, p <0.001) and BMI (t (41) = 16.364, p <0.001) over the six weeks, with a positive correlation (χ2 (40) = 651, p <0.001) between the change and parents' education level. Combining the Lets Go 5210 program with one-on-one coaching is a practical approach for preventing and reversing childhood obesity in preteens and adolescents in the home setting. Adoption of the program in routine outpatient visits to address may promote the embracing of healthy lifestyle among adolescents, which they can transfer into their adulthood.
