This study explores the impact of family dynamics on the implementation of a culturally adapted evidence-based trauma treatment for children and youth rescued from trafficking and other forms of abuse in the Philippines. The trauma treatment, Trauma-Informed Philippine Psychosocial intervention (TIPP), was a collaboration between psychology researchers in the United States and the Philippines. Interviews were conducted with 29 mental health professionals residing in the Philippines. These mental health professionals worked with children and adolescents who had experienced sex trafficking or some other form of child abuse. Participants volunteered to answer questions pertaining to the implementation of TIPP and provided culturally specific feedback to the treatment, the population, and the context. This study looked specifically at how family dynamics impact the implementation of TIPP as a way to better understand the barriers to treatment from a family systems lens, which hopes that recommendations could be made on how to address these challenges.
