The number of students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) continues to rise, as does the need for evidence-based interventions effective at improving the academic skills of these students. This study examined the impact of a peer tutoring intervention implemented by students with ASD targeting the early numeracy skills of other students with ASD. Additionally, data were collected in order to determine if the intervention impacted the social skills of the participants. It was hypothesized that there would be positive outcomes on the tutees' early numeracy skills, and tutees' and interventionists' social skills would improve as a result of engaging in the intervention. A multiple baseline design was conducted to determine the effects of the intervention. Outcomes of this study were favorable in showing improvement in the academic skills of students with ASD as a result of engaging in an academic peer tutoring intervention led by peer tutors with ASD. The data regarding student social skills did not conclusively indicate that the intervention made an impact on the peer interactions of students engaged in the intervention. Adherence data were additionally beneficial in supporting the future investigation into utilizing peers with ASD as tutors in academic interventions.
