Despite educational and technological advancements, online universities do not maximize the technological functions of their learning management systems resulting in missed educational opportunities for students. This modified e-Delphi study gained consensus from a national panel of education administrators, information technology professionals, and education technology specialists on strategies to maximize LMS functionality to enhance U.S. student satisfaction and learning. Two research questions guided the study:RQ1. What is the consensus of a national panel of education experts on strategies for online universities to maximize the technological functions of their learning management systems?RQ2. What is the consensus of a national panel of education experts on why online universities do not maximize the technological functions of their learning management systems? The expert panelists were at least 21 years of age, had at least three years of experience in their field, and had a working knowledge of learning management systems (LMS). The study consisted of four iterative rounds of questionnaires administered online. Participants rated 10 themes identified in round two and in round three. The researcher achieved consensus using combining the percentage score of Strongly agree and Agree options on the Likert scale of each question in Round Three. Recommendations for future research include new examinations and sampling techniques and studies on LMS and next generation digital learning environment (NGDLE). The results indicated faculty training is crucial to maximizing utilization of the LMS, assist in alleviating challenges, contribute to best practices of the LMS and e-learning.
