Amid half of American Twitter users having children in K-12 schools, campus leaders are assessing how social media might be a valid communication medium between home and school (Mazza, 2013; Smith 2011). This study explores the perceptions of a principal's use of twitter to communicate with stakeholders by three different groups in the school community. Four questions guided the research, (1) How is Twitter used as a communication tool with stakeholders? (2) What strategies are employed to ensure Twitter's effectiveness as a communication tool? (3) What are policies and guidelines for using Twitter in a school setting? (4) How has the use of Twitter affected stakeholder engagement and with the campus? The research was conducted at a high school in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and included one interview of the school principal and three focus groups representing various categories of the school community, with a total of 19 participants. Results of the study implicate a positive perception of the principal's use of Twitter to communicate with the stakeholder community. This researcher concluded that Twitter is an effective tool for a principal to use to communicate with stakeholders.
