Many children are negatively impacted by significant anxiety symptoms. These symptoms include excessive worrying, trouble sleeping, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. In the school setting, anxiety has typically been treated using cognitive-behavioral therapy or medications prescribed by an outside physician. The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a biofeedback intervention implemented by a school psychologist. Three middle school students who self-identified as having significant anxiety symptoms participated in the study. This study's mixed results could mean the students struggled to generalize the intervention to their lives and could benefit from additional sessions. Two participants rated their overall anxiety levels significantly lower after the intervention. There were no significant decreases in time out of class data, nurse's office visits, or counselor's office visits. This biofeedback intervention could be implemented by a school psychologist to decrease anxiety symptoms in students, but the intervention's effectiveness should be tested by further research.
