The purpose of this project was to locate a potential funding source and write a grant to create a new Wraparound program in the Los Angeles SPA 4 (Service Provider Area 4) community. The SPA 4 community is one of the most disparate communities with visibly noticeable class polarity. The grant writer has provided social work services in this community and has noted that one of the populations with the most needs is the undocumented Latino population.An extensive literature review was conducted to assess the needs of the intended population. The unique needs of this population, which often consists of mixed-status and multigenerational families, were identified as illiteracy, homelessness, food insecurity, and lack of access to appropriate health and mental health services. The Wraparound program utilizes a distinctive approach that would make it effective in meeting the aforementioned needs. If funded, this program would provide vulnerable families with access to vital social services that would pave a path toward opportunities to improve their quality of life. There is a need for services to focus on preventative measures instead of a solely reactive approach, which is how the Wraparound program is currently being utilized.The actual submission of the grant proposal was not a requirement of the thesis process.
