There is a high need for social and emotional coping skills for adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This paper presents a group-based cognitive behavioral approach to addressing social, emotional, and executive functioning skills for adolescents with ASD. This paper discusses the most recent findings in ASD research involving social skills, emotional recognition, history, and development of ASD as a neurodevelopmental disorder, and support for ASD needs. Adolescents diagnosed with ASD often face issues with relation to others, forming friendships, and isolation from their peers. The social skills group developed in this paper addresses the needs and trials of forming a group-based intervention within the high school setting grades K-12 to help support individuals with ASD.
