This study examined the perceptions of executive functioning abilities in a sample of adolescents with mid to high functioning autism with the use of archival data from Spring of 2018. 62 participants (51 males, 11 females) enrolled in New Vista School, a school that specializes in working with adolescents and young adults with diagnoses of mid to high functioning autism, completed a self-report survey measuring executive functioning perspectives. The Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Functioning Second Edition-Self Report (BRIEF2-SR) is a measure used to assess an adolescent's perception of their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral capabilities. Comparisons between participant demographic variables, as well as associations between clinical subscales were analyzed in order to determine relationships amongst responses. The goal of this research study was to obtain a better understanding of adolescent's perspectives of their executive functioning abilities, in order to enhance future research geared toward executive functioning deficits in autism.
