Television is a malleable medium designed to reflect and entertain society. The fluidity of the medium allows for ample opportunity to regularly, thoroughly analyze and reassess data. This study serves to update the data on the usage of profanity, sexual activity, and other indecent nonviolent content on broadcast primetime television. The programming assessed in the most recent prior studies on these topics aired nearer to the turn of the millennium than today, and the decade or more since then has seen significant changes in both social norms and media consumption patterns. In addition to tracking the overall rates of change, this shift also begs the question - how useful are the FCC's time-based restrictions on sexual and profane content in a society that can now view an infinite amount of content at any time?
