The purpose of this qualitative case study was to explore the challenges and difficulties the older population face integrating technology for healthcare information, social contact, and independent living. Forty adults over fifty years old were invited to participate in the study from five county branches of a senior center located in eastern North Carolina. The focus was those older adults who had a fear of embracing technology for healthcare information, social contact, and independent living. The results of the case study allowed for interviews and focus group discussions to engender positive experiences for the older adult population in using technology to promote a healthier livelihood, both socially and independently. This study concludes with a discussion of topics to safeguard older adults' development of interest in technology, to promote and enhance skills in technology training, to benefit from using technology, to support technology usage, to promote encouragement with technology, and to increase technology support. This study would be useful to bridge the gap in technology usage and integration among older adults.
