The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of CTE programs of study on the college and career readiness of students in a middle Tennessee school district. College and career readiness were measured through the comparison of graduation rates, standardized exam scores, and early postsecondary coursework for non-CTE and CTE program of study participants. Along with quantitative data, student perception data was collected to elicit the perspectives of high schoolers concerning their college and career readiness. The results indicated a significant difference in graduation rates between non-CTE program of study participants and CTE program of study participants. However, no significant difference was found when comparing average ACT composite scores and the number of early postsecondary coursework credits earned.
