Theatre of Children is a theatrical practice of collaboration between children and things, facilitated by adult interlocutors. It has been developed as a playful, interactive workbook full of provocations, collaborations, essays, and drawings that will guide a theatre practice which may live on its own or may support other methodologies in a classroom, studio, or community space. At the heart of this practice-based dissertation is the identification and development of a process of dramatic play that is intensely local while also being deeply concerned about the world outside of its container. It is rooted in a lineage of educational theatre practitioners and is working to grow into contemporary debates within the trauma of the Anthropocene. Theatre of Children is not necessary because it is new or because it thinks with loads of great thinkers (human and non-human). It is necessary because it is an intervention of inquiry into a post-truth world.
