Creating and maintaining a positive and productive work environment has been the focus of researchers in various disciplines for decades. Organizational behavior analysts have sought to examine the variables contributing to such work environments, however, systematic methods to increase job satisfaction and job performance are limited. Studies examining psychological flexibility have demonstrated that individuals with higher levels of display greater general mental health and previous workplace studies examining employee levels of psychological flexibility have demonstrated its effects on job satisfaction, job performance, and a variety of other employee-related behaviors. This study investigates how utilizing the Prosocial Matrix (Polk, 2013) (a visual tool representing psychological flexibility processes) in a workplace influences a person's psychological flexibility and job-related engagement/performance. Fourteen participants across three groups within a public service organization participated in a brief 45-minute Prosocial Matrix protocol. Participation rates were measured through responses to job-related survey questions distributed daily through email. The work-related acceptance and action questionnaire was completed pre- and post-intervention to measure participant levels of psychological flexibility. A multiple baseline design was used to analyze the effects of the Prosocial Matrix protocol on rates of engagement in a job-related task. The results of this study provide additional information regarding the use of the Prosocial Matrix to increase job satisfaction and levels of engagement among organizational employees.
