The purpose of this paper is to detail to the reader the coordination efforts of government agencies, law enforcement, non-governmental agencies, and financial institutions to end human trafficking and identify perpetrators, shut down criminal enterprises, and protect and assist victims after they are rescued. There are several forms of human trafficking, any of which can occur in any business industry. This discussion focuses on the reach of human trafficking, roles of key players, training and programs available, legislation around the world, the technology used by the traffickers and the investigators, and how these government bodies have made the anti-trafficking initiatives a priority, and provides specific case examples to illustrate the ways in which the governing bodies collaborate to rescue victims and prosecute traffickers. Despite these efforts, there are still some limitations to completely ending the crime of human trafficking. The research showed shortfalls in reporting, training, the application of advanced technology, and the understanding of criminal operations. Suggested solutions to mitigate these shortfalls include increased collaborative training and funding sources; better, more comprehensive legislation; and more streamlined access to technology.
