The STEM millennials have been posing a huge financial problem for the nuclear industry. The greatly reduced tenure by these new professionals has produced a large disparity between the money invested in each new employee's recruitment, training, qualification, and certification, and the company's ability to recoup their investment once they are fully qualified and certified. That's because they leave for their next position within their first two to five years and the qualification and certification process takes an average of eighteen months to two years. This increasing deficit has forced leadership to find the answers to question: What are the skillsets Business Managers need to improve retention for STEM Millennials in the Nuclear Industry? A qualitative exploratory study was performed to identify any notable factors existed that were consistent with the millennial generation in the nuclear workplace. Semi-structured interview questions were asked of ten STEM millennial, nuclear professionals who have only been in their jobs for less than one year. The results revealed a distinct shift in traditional needs theory rating of personal needs for workers amongst the STEM millennials. Understanding the new ordering of the hierarchy of personal needs can help improve the skillsets of Business Managers in the Nuclear Industry. This improvement and refocusing could result in the necessary improvement in retaining the STEM millennials.Key Words: Millennials, Motivators, Needs Theories, Self-Actualization, Nuclear Workforce, STEM.
