The purpose of the current study was to measure the level of service quality provided by students on short-term summer mission trips and the gospel receptivity reported by recipients to determine if they shared a relationship. Service quality was measured using the SERVQUAL instrument and gospel receptivity was measured using the Rainer Scale. The research utilized an exploratory, non-experimental quantitative correlational design. Seventy-one short-term mission recipients completed the pre- and post-test surveys and paired sample t-tests were conducted to determine if a significant change occurred. The Pearson's r Correlational Coefficient was used to determine if relationships existed between post-test Rainer Scale rankings and post-test SERVQUAL overall scores and dimension scores. The results of the current study revealed that mission project recipients experienced high levels of overall service quality and high levels of change among four out of five of the SERVQUAL dimensions. The recipients did not experience significant changes in gospel receptivity, but it was found that relationships exist between overall service quality and three out of five of the SERVQUAL dimensions. The current study suggests that short-term missionaries should focus on providing quality service, emphasize relationships, and develop long-term partnerships.
