This study examined whether there is a relationship between an individual's experience of perceived inner peace and the individual's orientation to the past, present, and future. For the purposes of this study perceived inner peace is defined as tranquillity of mind or spirit, or both. A nonrandom purposive sample of MSW students at California State University Long Beach, was used. The research instrument was a questionnaire composed of 32 closed ended questions. Results showed a moderate positive correlation between perceived inner peace and present-orientation as indicated by a Pearson's r of 0.56 (p = 0.0005). This study explored some of the reasons why a high present-orientation may be associated with perceived inner peace and makes some suggestions on further research in this area.
