A survey of 208 doctoral students across various APA Clinical Psychology programs across the United States found that 75% reported having been in therapy at some point in their life, and 24% reported no personal counseling experience. The results of the study found no gender or ethnicity differences in help-seeking attitudes. The results also indicated that participants who indicated no counseling experience had higher professional growth ratings than participants with counseling experience.
