By conducting this research, the writer will present both sides to using consumers drones and how their usage can present positives as well as negative effects for human life. This paper will help to breakdown the main case for using drones in our society. Drones in general are a very advanced piece of technology that requires special supervision and oversight, in order to remain in line with the current standards that are in place to protect human life. In this paper, it will discuss a brief history of how drone technology first appeared. This paper will touch upon the use cases for consumer drones and how these devices are being used in emergency response, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, agriculture, conservation, healthcare, weather forecasting, construction planning, real estate, live entertainment, gaming, space exploration, and even journalism news coverage. The research will also address the privacy concerns and the current overall legislation for consumer drones. To conclude the findings of this paper, the research will address the current cybersecurity threats and design flaws with consumer drones. Based on the findings from this research, it was evident that consumer drones present privacy concerns. The research also showed that despite the current legislation, the consumer drone laws themselves need more clarification and revampments in regards to addressing privacy concerns for residential areas and private property. In terms of cybersecurity threats, the research itself showed that consumer drones are vulnerable to hacking and device takeovers due to security weaknesses in the software that the consumer drones are using. By conducting this intensive research effort, the reader will gain a familiarity of how consumer drone's effect human life.
