The project director implemented a study to facilitate the creation of an intentional plan to preach without notes. Because the project director is a visually impaired Christian communicator, the intentional plan took into account certain features of sermon design not traditionally covered in homiletic works. The plan included a weekly itinerary for sermon preparation labeled the Intentional Plan Agenda (IPA) and a resource to guide research and recording of material labeled the Intentional Plan Worksheet (IPW).The project director chose a skill enhancement model for research design. He conducted his research at the First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor. The project director evaluated the functionality of the Intentional Plan Agenda and Intentional Plan Worksheet using a text-driven preaching model to deliver eight sermons from five different biblical genres. The project director assessed the outcome of the project by enlisting a panel of experts to complete a Professional Panel Review. These individuals had worked in the field of homiletics for greater than ten years. Two members had taught preaching in an academic setting. Further, each week the project director selected audience members to complete an Audience Panel Review. Finally, the project director completed a Sermon Self Review where he compared the videoed sermon to the Intentional Plan Worksheet.Chapter one defines the challenges faced by the project director as a visually impaired Christian communicator and lays out the various option combinations for preparing and delivering biblical sermons. The project director presented these option combinations as a Delivery Options Array and selected the exact delivery range pursued in the project. Chapter two presents the theological foundation for working within divinely imposed weakness (i.e. visual impairment) by weaving together the Gideon battle narrative in Judges 6-8 and the Pauling "thorn" pericope of 2 Cor 12:7-10. Chapter three records insights from works which address preaching without notes. The authors represented the variety of approaches to noteless delivery delineated on the Delivery Option Array. Chapter four details the progression of the project from research to plan formation, concluding with implementation. Finally, chapter five interacts with the project findings to test the effectiveness of the IPA and IPW.
