In Indonesia, job advertisements often state gender or age requirements because it is a common practice for companies to only hire a certain gender or age group. Management of human resources is an important part of global business practices and hiring practices as part of human resource management are crucial in managing talent to achieve global competitiveness. Globalization has ignited discussions and suggestions on the changing environment of gender or age equity in developing countries, especially in the environment where the US-based EEOC is supposed to be applied globally. This research examined the relationship between the increasing globalized environment in Indonesia, as measured by globalization indices, and the changes in gender or age equality in job advertisements, as measured by overtly stated gender or age requirements in the advertisements. Three globalization indices were used to measure globalization: Total Foreign Trade, Foreign Direct Investment, and the KOF Globalization Index. Job advertisements from two main national newspapers in Indonesia ( Kompas, the Indonesian language newspaper, and Jakarta Post , the English language newspaper) were analyzed over a 10-year period ending in 2015. This quantitative research used Multiple Regression analysis. The main finding suggested that there was no relationship between globalization and overtly stated gender or age requirements in newspaper advertisements in Indonesia. The data also showed that the language of the newspaper mattered to the proportions of job advertisements with regards to gender requirements or age requirements. The English language newspaper had less advertisements with gender or age requirements than the indonesian newspaper. Further, it was observed that there were more job advertisements with age requirements than job advertisements with gender requirements both in the Indonesian newspaper and English newspaper, Using the Douglasian Cultural Framework as a transactional approach of culture, the results were discussed. The practical implications for the academy and management were explained and recommendations for future research within hiring practices in Indonesia in relations with global business management were provided.
