This study explored the differences between African American male student athletes on full scholarship who earned a degree, and those who did not. SES, family structure, and value on education were the variables used to explore the differences between the graduates and non-graduates. This study examined the impact SES and family structure had on the success or failure of the African American male student athlete. The study also considered the value placed on education by both condition groups prior to entering college. There was no significant difference between SES, family structure, or value on education.
