Thesis (Psy.D.)--Spalding University, 2019.
Minimal research has investigated the relationship between critical thinking and resilience in the realm of sport, specifically female athletics. Vast amounts of research investigate stress among high-level athletes yet much of this research fails to consider mediating factors of resilience and critical thinking on everyday stressors of athletes. Both constructs have been associated with general performance in numerous settings outside of sport. Furthermore, minimum research has thoroughly examined the population of collegiate female volleyball players in the United States. Although attempts have been made to generalize findings among athletes, no current literature directly investigates the impact of critical thinking and resilience on stress in elite female athletes in the United States. This study investigates the relationship between critical thinking, resilience, and stress among collegiate volleyball players.
