Thesis (Ph.D.)--Barry University, 2018.
All higher education institutions are required to be accountable to their accrediting body and various stakeholders through a process known as Institutional Effectiveness (IE). Each institution has its own culture for how the organization as a whole is governed and how it meets its regulations for compliance. This dissertation addresses the perceptions held by faculty members (both full-time and part-time) within the Florida public college system, in the areas of both IE and Organizational Culture. This quantitative research employed a survey methodology to measure both perception of IE and Organizational Culture of faculty members as well as their involvement in the IE process. A bivariate regression, multiple regression and an ANOVA analyses were used to address the three hypotheses of the study. The bivariate regression analysis investigated the degree to which, faculty status could be used as a predictor of IE perceptions of faculty members. The multiple regression investigated the degree to which level of involvement and faculty status are predictors of faculty perceptions of IE. The ANOVA addressed how faculty status (full-time or part-time) and organizational culture perception (clan, adhocracy, market, hierarchical) are related to faculty IE perception. Results of this study indicated that faculty status (full-time or part-time) is not a predictor of faculty members' IE perceptions, however, increased levels of involvement were a predictor in faculty IE perceptions, regardless of status. Finally, the hypothesized interaction between full and part-time faculty members' Organizational Culture perceptions and their IE perceptions was not supported.
