Thesis (D.B.A.)--Golden Gate University, 2018.
This research is focused on exploring and evaluating the impact of two specific security measures, i.e., role of the government and the awareness of the management of exporting firms of the impact of security measures on the productivity of export-related processes in the Egyptian supply chains. On one hand, the government continues to commit some major resources and has placed security at the top of the list of priorities to attract private and foreign investments in the manufacturing sector. And on the other hand, the management of exporting firms continues to improve and strengthen its awareness of the importance of achieving the highest security levels possible in order to attain desirable economic outcomes.

The two major motivating factors for this research are the ever- increasing importance of security issues throughout the world and the fact that Egyptian exports constitute major sources of foreign currency into the Egyptian economy.

This research utilizes a mixed qualitative research methodology consisting of: interviews with the supply chain managers and/or assistant managers at each of the chosen exporting firms, use of surveys to gather appropriate demographic data from the participants, and use of a seven-point Likert survey to have the interviewees express their perception of how the two security measures impact the productivity of export related processes. This survey instrument was tested at a company, chosen from the selected industries.

The analysis of gathered data support the main research question of this dissertation that the specified security measures do positively impact the productivity of the export -related processes in Egyptian supply chains. It is anticipated that these findings will still hold true for other supply chains outside Egypt.
