A disturbing fact, we are leaving a great deal of our population behind. Could it be that we as a whole refuse to believe what the statistics portray? African Americans, American Indians, and Hispanics are left behind. A fact: about 37 percent of our population is comprised of minorities. More than half the children born in the United States in 2011 were minorities. There are over 52 million Hispanics in the country making them the largest minority group in the United States. Non-Hispanic whites are projected to become the minority by 2042 (Passel & Cohn, 2008).

This research focuses on bias that may be present in the classroom. It delves into whether teachers may harbor some form of prejudice, whether conscious or not, that may somehow effect their students. The anonymous survey was administered to teachers and other educators in three counties in the State of Delaware: Kent, Sussex, and New Castle.
