520 $a Differential migration and the social and economic context of migration are analyzed. Then, the three major theories are tested. The findings indicate that educational attainment of migrants is the most important factor in determining an individual's occupational achievement. Interestingly, assistance from relatives has a negative effect on occupational achievement for rural migrants only. Ethnicity, gender, and local labor market conditions do not affect an individual's occupational achievement.
