The study sought to evaluate the impacts of the Raising A Reader program on adolescent mothers with young children and examine what factors contribute to or inhibit book sharing. A review of relevant literature revealed the connection between adolescent parents and potentially adverse outcomes for their children. It also revealed the significant need for support among this population and brought significance to this topic. In order to determine the impacts of the Raising A Reader program among adolescent mothers with young children, survey data was collected prior to and upon completion of the program. By way of statistical analysis, the Raising A Reader program was found to impact the average level of enjoyment experienced by children while book sharing and the average number of library visits reported within the past month. Also, post-survey data was examined to determine what factors contribute to or inhibit book sharing. A multiple response analysis revealed having books at home, parental enjoyment of book sharing and children's enjoyment of book sharing to be the three main factors that contribute to book sharing. Furthermore, academic demands, work schedules and domestic responsibilities were found to be the three main factors that inhibit book sharing. These findings were used to identify a need for future research and formulate program recommendations that may impact implementation procedures and future program outcomes.
