Thesis (D.M.)--Colorado Technical University, 2016.
Several years ago, social networking sites emerged as one of the most powerful technological advances in marketing around the world (Saxena & Khanna, 2013). Focus on social media was not originally intended as another method for organizations and brand strategists to tell their stories (Digital Trends, 2014). Once large corporations began to see the explosive growth of social networking sites and how they were viewed as an intricate component to reinforce marketing campaigns, large corporations began to embrace this new virtual environment (Digital Trends, 2014; Judson, Devasagayam, & Buff, 2012). Researchers have sought to understand the online microblogging habits of target audiences from various backgrounds. This phenomenological study examines the personal success stories of seven YouTubers with at least 100,000 subscribers and a global reach of more than 10 countries.
