Thesis (M.S.)--California State University, Dominguez Hills, 2014.
This pilot study examined the possible effects working in a sustainable environment may have on human well-being. In order to conduct this study, the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) ratings system was used. Three LEED Gold college administrative buildings and three traditional (non-LEED) college administrative buildings were targeted. Full-time employees from each building type were asked to complete an online survey to determine general disposition. The survey was modeled from the National Accounts of Well-being. The results were compared and analyzed to determine if there was a significant difference in the employees of the two different building types. After data was collected and analyzed, it was determined that there was no significant difference in the well-being of employees from the LEED building and the well-being of employees from the non-LEED building. However, more research should be done using a larger sample size to make a better assessment.
