The concept of "family" is one that has been changing over time to include step-parents and blended families, in consideration of the increased numbers of sexual minority parents. Mixed perspectives of this change affect the relationships established by sexual minority couples and parents. This study explores a new self-report questionnaire, Sexual Minority Parenting Questionnaire (SMPQ). The SMPQ explores the parent-child relationship of sexual minority parents. A total of 83 participants (n = 83), mainly gay and lesbian parents, completed this questionnaire. The internal consistency reliability, through the Cronbach's coefficient alpha, was determined as high. With regard to the inter-item correlation, several items were correlated with one another. In conclusion, the SMPQ woulsd benefit from further test development analysis and re-construction of certain test items.
