Thesis (M.S.)--Adelphi University, 2016.
Branchiostegus japonicus which belongs to the Perciformes family Branchiostegidae and is a significant economic fish resource in Korea, China and Japan and distributed from Japan to the South China Sea. This research amplified and sequenced DNA for 50 samples separated from 9 localities that span a 2,550 Km range. All of the NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 (ND2) partial genes were amplified and sequenced. The sequence analysis showed that the nine locations shared the same haplotype. The Fixation index (Fst) test indicated no significant genetic diversity between any pair of localities. The Tajima's D test had showed a negative selection or a bottleneck effect. But those effects haven't apparently impacted the genetic diversity. The Groups' locus difference distribution diagram also indicated the frequency distribution of the genetic distance among individuals haplotype is substantially the same.
