Thesis (Ph.D.)--Brandeis University, 2016.
This dissertation advances practice and theory of brain computer interfaces (BCIs) with empirical and modeling approaches. The document is structured with a general introduction to the topic of BCIs and a brief overview of the current state of the field, followed by an empirical section detailing a series of experiments conducted to use standard techniques for the decoding of a novel class of voluntary movements, and concludes with a section outlining a modeling method that was explored in an effort to augment the standard decoding methods and results of the experiments described in the prior section.
