Thesis (Ph.D.)--Multimedia University (Malaysia), 2014.
Based on the theory of social constructivism propounded by Vygotsky (1978) who points out that learning is a type of "social activity", cooperative learning represents a shift from a teacher-centered approach to a more student-centered approach in a small group. Johnson and Johnson (1996) propose the five components in cooperative learning to be implemented into the learning environment in order to engage students' learning process. Therefore, it creates an excellent opportunity for students to engage in problem solving with the help of their group members instead of solving the problem individually (Effandi & Zanaton, 2007). This research was to develop a cooperative learning environment using Web 2.0 tool to enhance students' experience in the multimedia-based cooperative environment. The research was conducted using mixed-method approach. The data obtained from the surveys, pre-test and post-test, open-ended questionnaires and interviews were triangulated and were analysed with the use of descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and multivariate analysis.
